Waiting with Hope

Waiting with Hope

Israel’s long wait for God’s Promised One to appear stretches across the pages of the Old Testament. The stories found there reveal much about God’s chosen leaders—prophets, priests, and kings—their character, values, decisions, and actions. We see their deep-seated faith that God would act in accordance with His character, their confidence that God could be depended upon to fulfill His promises. Their confidence in God’s character and Word allowed them to lead in their time even as they waited for His promise to be fulfilled. What are you waiting for God to do? What gives you confidence and hope as you wait?

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. – Isaiah 64:4

Prayer: Lord God, like those before me, I wait on You to act. Let my confidence and hope in You be the basis for how I lead today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
